2011 Regal 2220 & 2220 RX Fasdeck (Deck Boats)
On the way to Wakeboard Nirvana is a little town called Practicality.
You?ve probably seen it on the map; it?s right near Desire and just down the street
from Deposit. While some visitors to this watersports utopia don?t take the time to
stop, there are plenty who slow down and consider taking the fork in the road. For
those who choose Practicality, it leads to the Regal RX.
There is no question that inboards provide a great venue for competitive
watersports. But the other question just might be: What am I going to be doing with
the boat besides watersports? What about families looking to do a variety of
activities while remaining on a budget? The answer to both is the concept behind
Regal?s latest launch: the RX (Regal Extreme). The RX combines some of the most
attractive features of a watersports-specific boat with the functionality and value of a
runabout.
?We think the RX is an ?everything to everyone? boat,? says Duffy Stenger, Regal?s
vice president of sales and marketing. ?There is a strong need for a boat that can
adapt to a variety of on-water activities that isn?t just a single-purpose boat. We feel
the RX is a perfect blend for those active families looking to do a little bit of everything
on the water.?
The RX comes loaded with a lot of goodies to make the most out of any session
behind the boat. Standard is a new Z-tower for elevated tricks, tower speakers for
sound during the set, swiveling board racks and wide-view mirror. Also standard is
Perfect Pass GPS-based cruise control, which passes control of the throttle to a
computer to hold perfect speeds for riders. Out back, riders and boards (and
transom) are all protected with a standard hydro mat.
While underway, the ride is soft and predictable while remaining invigorating due to
Regal?s award-winning FasTrac hull. Introduced and patented in 1997, the FasTrac
hull has time and time again beaten competitors of comparable size and power
courtesy the full mid-beam step. By breaking the running surface, it essentially creates
a pocket of air. This air reduces drag and cushions the ride; as a result, the RX
experiences faster speeds, quicker planing times and better fuel economy. At speeds under 22 mph, the unique design allows the stern of the RX to sit deeper in
the water, kicking up a beefy wake for riders, with no additional need for ballast.
Style is a matter of subjectivity, so Regal provides an exciting array of gelcoat colors
and distinctive schemes. Outside melds with the inside as color-matched accents
bring the cockpit to life. There is more to the RX than just good looks; the cockpit is
functional and crowd-friendly as well. Seating is deep and plentiful throughout,
offering storage below for both wet and dry items. The standard premium Kenwood
CD/stereo system features an added punch with a total of six marine speakers, 100-
watt amp and subwoofer. If your music collection is more portable than CDs, the RX
easily accommodates with the standard iPod/MP3 port. Or, keep your iPod fully
charged and stereo controlled with the optional iPod dock.
A tricked-out tower, attention-grabbing graphics and board-friendly features
represent many of the best attributes of an inboard. By combining these essential
wakeboard elements with the functionality and performance of a sportboat, you not
only have a perfect fit for an active family, you have arrived at place called Practicality.
